After leaving St Martins School of Art with a degree in Fashion Design, I worked as a designer of ladies and children's wear for many years, both here and in South Africa.
On returning to the UK I started a business designing and making ladieswear for private clients in the Thames Valley.
After a few years I decided to return to my first love, drawing and painting, and have sought to develop my skills by joining local art groups and exhibiting my work with some success. I started, as many do, with watercolour and progressing to oils via pastel and acrylic.
I paint both 'en plein air' and in the studio, and am a member of a weekly Life Drawing class and a Trustee and Treasurer of Poole and East Dorset Art Society.
I find light, colour and composition equally important in my work, which is mostly landscape and coastal scenes from beautiful Dorset, and am inspired by varied artists past and present - Sorolla, a Spanish Impressionist, Monet, as well as John Piper and Paul Nash and the Canadian Group of Seven.
